The ongoing and enthusiastic support from the community is immensly appreciated and serves to raise much needed funds to continue improving Library resources.

Donations of books are gladly received and these are used to either stock the Library or for the book sales.

The Library also has a Gift Fund so please consider giving a donation. When donating at the Library Centre Desk, ask for a tax deductible receipt.

VOLUNTEERS

The Library is run by volunteers who dedicate their time and knowledge to assist in a multitude of ways to run the Library. There are many ways that you can become involved and volunteer to assist the Library.

The Mapleton Library and Community Centre depends on our volunteers who provide everything from fund raising to housekeeping.

Most volunteers enjoy a few hours working on the desk fortnightly. Not only is this time to get to know other volunteers and community members, but it provides an opportunity to receive appreciative feedback from our members, who value the Library Centre and its facilities.

If you would like to volunteer please leave contact details at the Library desk.  We are particularly interested in any story tellers for our Saturday morning sessions. Could that be you?

Training is given by those of us with qualifications, skills and many years of experience in all areas of fund raising, maintaining the collection and organising the Library.

Volunteers receive lots of ongoing and on-the-job support.

Dewey Catalogue training

Dewey Catalogue training

Recent volunteer training has included library processes and learning about the Dewey cataloguing system used in the Non Fiction area.

Some volunteers have received training in providing a home delivery service of books to the housebound, on behalf of Sunshine Coast Regional Library.

Blackall Range Zonta and MADCA also provide assistance for the ‘Preparing for Prep’ free workshops for young parents and their families.

Special thanks to the Lions Club of Maleny Blackall Range members who continue to assist us, from landscaping to sausage sizzles.
